At which age should I switch my dog to the senior food?
It should be introduced about 7 years of age. It is recommended for large & giant breed dogs at about 5 years of age, this is due to the addition of ingredients to assist in joint care
Why is oven baking better than extrusion in making pet food?
Vitamins are destroyed through any cooking process and due to the higher temperatures used in extrusion, the vitamin loss is greater.
Do I feed my puppy the food dry or with water?
It depends on the age or size of your puppy and also your preference. If the puppy is small and just weaned, adding a small amount of water may be beneficial for its soft mouth.
We have had a query about the fat content of our puppy complete chicken. Latest test results of 10.1% show that the recipe is well within the FEDIAF guidelines of minimum 8.5%. At 8.5%, the permitted tolerance is +/-2 so the declaration on the bag does not fall outside those limits.
Why is this food good for oral care?
Due to the wobbly/jagged kibble, the teeth have to penetrate into it and this helps to remove plaque. Think of it like a scouring action.
What is porcine?
Porcine is actually blood plasma powder, made from the blood of pork slaughtered for human consumption, after all the blood cells have been removed. It is particularly nutritious in protein and may help the dog’s digestive and immune systems. Think of it as black pudding!
What is xanthan gum?
Xanthan gum is made from the fermentation of glucose or sucrose and acts as a gelling agent. It is used in many ingredients such as apple sauce and salad dressings.
What is the difference between complementary and complete pet foods?
A complete food is where your pet can get all their nutritional dietary requirements by eating that food. A complementary pet food is fed in addition to complete foods as a treat or as a mixer or meal with canned meat or meat, vegetables and vitamins to make a complete meal.
My dog has a wheat gluten intolerance – will he be ok with this food?
Laughing Dog Natural Complete contains barley and oats as it’s cereal source. Both these contain gluten, but it is a different substance to wheat gluten.
My dog is over weight is this food suitable?
The calorie content of Laughing Dog Natural Complete is lower than many other super premium foods – only 323.5 kcal / 100g
Why is Lamb the only meat source in the product?
We have recently had a few requests for a complete food containing no chicken or rice.
So why lamb?
Pork is generally thought to be too fatty and some dogs seem to find beef difficult to digest. Lamb has a good strong aroma that dog seems to like.
