Homemade ice lollies for dogs recipe

Looking for ideas to keep your dog cool this summer? Why not try our ice lollies for dogs recipe – a homemade dog treat recipe we know your canine companion will enjoy this summer. In this homemade dog-friendly ice lolly recipe we have chosen bananas and raspberries because these are Layla’s favourite fruity treats – but you can of course use any dog-friendly fruits your dog enjoys!

Ingredients (x4 lollies):

  • x1 banana
  • x5 raspberries (switch these to any other dog-friendly fruit!)
  • Icy water to blend

Method:

  1. Blend your ingredients together
  2. Pour your fruit mix into a suitable mould and insert a lolly stick
  3. Pop into the freezer until solid (approx. 1.5hrs)
  4. Take out of your mould and enjoy!

This homemade ice lolly treat for dogs is intended as an occasional dog treat only. Always supervise your dog when they are eating, ensuring they have lots of clean water to drink from.

Not keen on ice lollies? Why not try our fruity Kong filler recipe idea – this is the perfect summer dog treat and makes a great alternative to ice lollies for dogs.

Into the mixing bowl…

1 tbsp Greek yoghurt

A handful of frozen strawberries & blueberries

To fill your KONG:

  1. Mix together the yoghurt and fruit (you can choose any safe fruity your dog enjoys!)#
  2. Fill your KONG (the mixture of yoghurt helps to thicken the KONG filler)
  3. Freeze and let your dog enjoy! (We would advise that you do not re-freeze once thawed).

This homemade dog treat is intended as an occasional dog treat only. Always supervise your dog when they are eating, ensuring they have lots of clean water to drink from.

An alternative recipe to help keep your dog cool in summer is our ‘As cool as a cucumber’ recipe. Here you can mix delicious cottage cheese (low fat variety) and a cucumber!

Ingredients:

1 tbsp cottage cheese (low fat)

1/4 cucumber, chopped into bite size slices

To fill your KONG:

Mix together the cheese and cucumber and fill your KONG. If your dog does not finish it, we advise you refrigerate and it is used within the day.
