Escape to the countryside with your four-legged friend!

Did you know that Forest Holidays offer dog-friendly holidays? From woodland walks to explorations of historic villages,  surround yourself with nature in the heart of Britain’s beautiful forests.

A sunlit forest glade, birdsong on the breeze, absolute peace. Forests to explore, rivers to walk along, and mountains to climb. The time, the space, the people you love. Sounds perfect doesn’t it?

Pet friendly holidays

We know your dog is part of the family and we know that dogs love forests. That’s why we were so excited to discover that over half of the cabins at Forest Holidays are pet friendly – and all of their team are pet-friendly too!  A Forest Holiday is the perfect pet-friendly UK holiday.

A holiday your dog will love

When your pet is part of the family, it’s only right that they come on holiday with you.  From a warm welcome, to doggy treats in your cabin, and the freedom to explore the UK’s amazing forests, your pet will love you for bringing them along.

At the forest your dog will be in heaven, snuffling through the leaves, collecting sticks, splashing in streams and of course, finding every muddy puddle. If dogs could describe their idea of the perfect holiday, we are pretty sure they would describe a Forest Holidays break.

Cosy cabins where pets are welcome

After a day playing in the forest, your dog can rest safely on the enclosed decking of your cabin, keeping one eye open for forest creatures, while you relax in the hot tub. As night falls, there is plenty of room in the cabin for your pet’s bedding and favourite toys and the gentle warmth of the underfloor heating in some cabins will lull them into happy dreams.

You can bring up to four pets per cabin – it’s usually dogs but other pets are welcome too!

Dog-friendly adventures

The Laughing Dog team were over the moon to learn that many of Forest Holiday’s Forest Rangers have their own dogs at work with them. You can bring your dog into the Forest Retreat or let them rest at the drinking station while you get them some doggy treats from the shop. There are outdoor taps to wash the forest mud away after a long walk too, and many other little details to make life for you and your dog easier.

You’ll understand that you must keep your dog on a lead around the cabins and Forest Holidays ask that you don’t leave them unaccompanied.

Pet-friendly attractions close to the forest

There are plenty of dog-friendly holiday activities near to Forest Holiday’s locations, from forest trails to museums and even a jail! Inveraray Jail near to Ardgartan Argyll welcomes dogs, and they are welcome too in the bar and garden at our Strathyre local, The Lade Inn. In North Yorkshire, the Ryedale Folk Museum, a short drive from Cropton and Keldy, is dog-friendly and, at Sherwood Forest, you can take the dog to Hardwick Old Hall, an English Heritage property.

How about a trip on a steam train? Dogs are welcome at Dean Forest Railway in the Forest of Dean or the Bure Valley Railway in Norfolk, near Thorpe Forest, where they even have their own resident dog. In Hampshire, near Blackwood Forest, the South Downs offer miles of beautiful walks for you and your dog. At the Eden Project near Deerpark in Cornwall, dogs can enjoy the outdoor trails.

This is just a flavour of the things you can do on a Forest Holiday with your dog; see their Forestipedia blogs too, for dog-friendly beaches and other dog-friendly holiday ideas.

Four-legged friends enjoying their breaks!
